My good friend Pastor Deanna gave Elgin and me kudos for rearing such great kids. Well today that got reaffirmed by somebody at Mr. NFL’s school. He missed the bus so I had to drop him off and some lady took her time to tell me what a great kid he was. She went into detail about how the other boys will act up but Mr. NFL makes good choices. She said we were doing a good job over and over again. She said he was so well-mannered and again good job. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard this at his school. When I go in the office for any reason and I say I’m here for Mr. NFL, the people in the office go on and on about him. He really is a great kid...

My mom and her hubby (we call him Dad and the kids call him granddad) are staying with us for a season. And I’m not sure whose supposed to be blessing who. My mom is up early in the morning cooking breakfast and preparing lunches for everybody. The coffeepot is brewing and the whole house smells wonderful. Because my stomach is not 100 percent I can’t have any coffee! But I digress. This used to be my job but I get to sleep in which is a huge blessing since my sleep pattern is temporarily off. Some people would like to discount me and what works in me because according to them, “I haven’t been through anything.” And by anything they mean being promiscuous, dating shenanigans, fights, drugs, and the such. They say, “I can’t relate to you and that’s all nice and good that you were able to do that but that ain’t the world I live in.” My testimony is somehow to my shame and the world I live in is idealistic. Our teenager ministered in word Sunday and something she said gripped my heart. She knows kids who gang bang, who are off into drugs, kids who are promiscuous and in all kinds of trouble. She said she talks to these kids and they want to come back but “don’t know how to get back.” Meaning they don’t know how to come back to Christ. How to re-enter the church. They fear the are way too flawed for the church. That hurt. Now it could be just cheap talk or a flimsy excuse to continue in foolishness.
