Keeping promises

I think for most of us, we’re quick to break the promises we make to ourselves. Promises of paying ourselves first, working out and eating better. It’s hard work, but I’ve been keeping the promise to eat better and workout. Now I’ve been around the block a time or two and know that maintaining consistency is its own fight. But I have lots of reasons to fight the good fight and see this thing through to its completion.

I’ve also learned over the last two years when to say when; for the good of my mental and financial health. I learned that hard-earned money does not belong in black holes, bottomless pits, pockets with holes and so on. Sometimes you have to say enough is enough. Know when to fold them right? It doesn’t make one a failure, just the opposite. The old saying goes you can’t expect something different by doing the same old thing. If its not working; it’s not working and there comes a time to trust God and do something and look for something new. I’d be crazy to continue to pour time, money and resources and never get on top. Some things are just not worth it. Know when to say when.

I have a need that I’ve been keeping before the Lord in prayer. I tell Him that if I had the resources to make this happen, I’d simply go and do it. There would be no need for me to bend His ear in prayer or faithfully stand on His word regarding this situation. But I do need Him to show favor and honor His word; simply stated, I’m dependent on Him. We all need Him. You may not need Him for what I need Him for, but we all need Him. And He’s proven Himself to be more than faithful.

So if you’re in covenant relationship with the Most High God; if you call Him Daddy (or Abba in Hebrew) believe this; He’s never broken covenant. Never. If you have a pressing need, your covenant keeping God is prepared to meet you where you are. He is faithful to do it. I don’t tell God how to handle His business, I just present the need. How He chooses to answer is His call and amazingly it works out for my good.

Trusting in the arms of the covenant-keeping God today.

Be blessed everyone.
