Recently, I’ve been the recipient of great information. Everything from blogging tips, to spiritual matters and leadership insight. It’s all been good. But here’s what I realized, everything wasn’t meant for me to personally implement. It was good information and some will have to be filed away for later use.
For example, the social media information has been enlightening. However, there are some things that need to be sorted out and prayed over to see how I should proceed. Engaging in social media on a professional level takes time. Even the blogging rules say that you should blog everyday and to be successful have a niche and stick to it.
According to the experts, blogs like mine which span lots of areas (my life, marriage, ministry, kids, things I’ve learned) don’t garner a lot of readers. I would believe that if I didn’t know for a fact that people like Pastor Deanna and Nicki have lots of readers and their blogs speak to their entire lives. So even though the information was useful (I should be a consistent blogger) the rest didn’t fit His purpose. Because ultimately, if I believe this blog to be a work of Holy Spirit and being obedient to something He’s asked me to do, conventional wisdom won’t work. The NPNC blog is written for those in leadership and I write as inspired. It’s not a daily blog by any means but I could do better by posting more frequently. I have more subscribers to that blog than I do on the others and posts are sporadic…go figure!
I learned from two great women this week and their words of wisdom could be applied immediately. My spiritual mother said this, when we hear from God, we need to ask when is this for? Do we drop everything now and pursue or is this for a later time. So many times I messed that one up! LOL! I ministered on this subject last Wednesday and as soon as I finish editing the video I promise I’ll put it up.
I read an article in which John Maxwell was interviewed. He has a new book out and it has to do with not just communicating but connecting. I will purchase the book because it sounds like a good read. We should as ministers look to connect. This blog is my attempt to connect with those who want to know more about me and the ministry. But I can see where there are times when the Word of the Lord needs to be communicated and whether or not we connect is secondary.
So while there is lots of good information out there, it still needs to be filtered. We must decide if it’s useable now or should it be filed away for later.
Because if I did every thing social media experts suggest, there’s so much that would never get done.
It may be good information but wisdom says act now or file for later.
Happy Friday everyone.
