Be Anxious For Nothing

You know how the old saying goes, “easier said than done.” And I confess, there are times in my life when I get anxious. When I feel God is not moving fast enough and I’m ready now. Or so I think.

I feel like the rider atop his horse at the start gate waiting for the shot to be fired. Or agitated like the bull in its pen. I want out! Let me run!

But I talked with a friend today and she told me some things that calmed me right down. I’m content to wait on God’s timing. I’m happy to let God process me. I’m happy to let my spiritual mother keep me under her loving, eagle eyes and help perfect God’s glory in me.

When He tries me, I come forth as pure gold just as the Bible declares.

As my friend shared some truths about ministry I settled down. For me it confirmed Word preached Sunday on the priorities and obligation of a son. Love your Daddy first. Nurture the relationship with Him. Or I’ll say it this way; Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind (Luke 10:27).

My goal is to be solid in the word of God (satisfy no itching ears with a pop-gospel), and be a person of integrity and a reflection of God’s character and love. That’s it. That ought to keep me busy from now till I see Jesus.

Be anxious for nothing…it really is sound advice.

And now I’ve got a good reason to sit still.
