Be nice to a retail employee today

It’s Labor Day and I’m home today, but that wasn’t always the case.

As a former retail employee, I’ve gotten dressed and left my husband and children at home while I went to work on the holiday. Retail employees get few of the traditional holidays off. And you know that going in but it was still hard leaving everyone at home.

I had a few customers who were especially thoughtful and would offer to bring me things on those days.

So as a former retail employee, give a big smile to your cashier, order taker, server, waitress today. I promise it’ll make their day.
