Connections that bless

Posted by on Oct 31, 2011 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

I’ve spent the day pondering connections. I thought about the people who are connected to me either through business, family or ministry. People who I’d love to spend more time with but life, physical distance, and schedules get in the way. We communicate via email, Facebook and text messages or sometimes talk on the phone but I miss being in their presence. I miss spending time with them. I miss laughing till my sides hurt over a great meal. Some I only know through cyberspace and would love to sit down with them over a good cup of coffee or a glass of sweet tea. Some folk in my life aren’t going anywhere. I don’t care how long it’s been...

Weekend Potpourri

There comes a point…When you have to walk out forgiveness. I keep rehearsing the sermon from a few weeks ago; what do you do when the people who hurt you come back and they need your help? (The Joseph story). You can try to ignore their needs but your Jesus-like heart and compassion won’t let you. At some point you do the right thing and your heart is connected to the charity you show. There comes a point when the past doesn’t matter and you do the right thing…and you do it from your heart. I Am Married to the most Wonderful Man on the Planet…ReallyI’m amazed at all he gets done. Last week, I had two early morning appointments on two...

Lord, Just Don’t Let Me Get Sea Sick

I’m sitting in an EARLY morning business seminar and Holy Spirit is real talkative. I keep hearing “cast a wider net.” And what does the speaker talk about in his lovely lecture? Expanding your circle of influence and then gave us the steps to do so. Fishing with a net on a pole isn’t going to cut it and that makes sense if “harvest is ripe and laborers are few.” Commercial fishing requires commercial grade tools. Direct marketers know that if you’re looking for 100 event attendees then you send out at least 1,000 invitations…at least. You have to cast a wider net in a bigger pool of water. I’ve been quite hesitant...

I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant!

Posted by on Oct 25, 2011 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

There’s a TV show that depicts the life of women who had no idea they were pregnant. They find themselves in emergency rooms delivering babies they didn’t even know they carried. Some deliver in precarious places like truckstop bathrooms. Some of these new moms have been pregnant before and delivered healthy babies. And I ask the same question everyone asks, how could they not know? These women give reasonable, believable answers but it boils down to not believing the symptoms. If you think not knowing you were pregnant is amazing, how about delivering a baby and not knowing you delivered? Yea. Here’s how it happens. Through Holy Spirit’s...

Bleeding on Facebook

Posted by on Oct 19, 2011 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

This graphic was in my Facebook stream this morning. There were lots of amens and cyber high fives but I couldn’t bring myself to join in. On the surface it rings true. But I know there’s more to the sometimes uncomfortable and unsettling disclosure of one’s personal business on social media networks. I’ve read plenty of Facebook statuses that make me shake my head and leave me asking why. What’s particularly grievous is when leaders bleed all over Facebook. I’ve asked myself many times, isn’t there someone offline they can talk to about that? It’s painful to watch and if you’re not in close relationship with...
