Daily Due Diligence and the 80/20 Rule

Due diligence. Basically it’s the part you’re responsible for in an agreement or negotiation. Yesterday I was reminded that I have daily due diligence. God has spoken some pretty incredible things and He’s good for His part…it’s my daily due diligence that has the potential to hold up progress.

My daily due diligence includes:

  • Spending time in prayer/worship/Word
  • Working out
  • Utilizing Weight Watchers (my thinking has changed on this…I used to hate all the counting but now see it as my daily due diligence in God’s overall plan for me).
  • Writing
  • Connecting with people

I’m currently reading the book Rich by Choice, Poor by Habit by Laurie Johnson. Excellent read! She reviews The 80/20 Rule or the Pareto Principle named after Italian economist and gardener, Vilfredo Federico Damaso Pareto. She says this:

“When applied to your daily life, the 80/20 Rule states that 20 percent of your activities will account for 80 percent of your results. This means if you have a “to do” list of ten items, two of those items will turn out to be worth as much or more than the other eight items put together. The bottom line is this: of all the things you do during a day, only about 20 percent are really of any value and those 20 percent produce 80 percent of your results. Given this — it makes good sense to spend your time on the things that are of value.”

My daily due diligence is based on this 80/20 Rule and are in complete sync with what God wants for me.

What’s on your daily due diligence list?
