Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?
I’ll never forget a phone interview my beloved had when we first moved to Houston many years ago. I remember watching his expression change from serious to that of confused and puzzled. I have a friend. This friend was going through a rough patch and was really needing some answers. I believe what I shared with her to be Godly counsel. What I shared with her was confirmation of a word of wisdom from a fellow believer. The Monday after a funeral is hard. Mourners go home. Well wishers dwindle. The work week starts and it’s time to return to what is routine; what is normal. But life is anything but normal for the grieving and that’s very evident that Monday after the funeral. Elgin and I watched the homegoing celebration of Whitney Houston over the weekend just like millions of others. Kevin Costner, Whitney’s body guard, and Tyler Perry left us with great stories to hold on too. They encouraged all of us. I had the opportunity to talk to two fabulous women today. They don’t know each other and live in completely different cities. One in Los Angeles the other in Chicago but they both said the same thing; one from a business viewpoint and the other spiritual. They both spoke of the need for mentorship and guidance. Some people still desire that one-on-one, hands on interaction with wise counsel. But there’s been a break down in communication and some are having a hard time connecting.
